After the summer of 2005 and the devastating effect of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, 2006 was a much need respite, and that must have had a lot to do with the huge success of our fall meeting in Corpus Christi. We had 95 people attend, 33 oral presentations, 13 posters, 3 commercial vendors displays, 2 educational displays, and 1 heck of an evening speaker at the banquet. We awarded fist and second place for student oral and poster presentations, and a special overall undergraduate presentation award. Overall, the meeting was a huge success, except that we had few people there from outside Texas.

The meeting followed a new format of gathering GERS members on a biennial basis in fall in even years, which complements the ERF meeting in fall in odd years. Thus, the next meeting will be in Fall 2008. In the meantime, there will be local meetings during the spring in several locations, and the ERF 2007 meeting in Providence, RI.
